The only other gem that is created this deep is Diamonds that are formed even deeper. Peridot is made in magma that is 20 to 55 miles deep and then it’s brought up to the surface of the Earth because of active volcanoes or tectonic shifts. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5-7.
