Deep blue faces, flecked like a night sky.

Blue sandstone is made by mixing glass, made from natural materials such as sand, limestone and soda ash, with quartz sand. The quartz sand is heated and melted, then infused with chromium, manganese, copper, cobalt and feldspar, which fill it with sparkly specks of color. Its components are naturally occurring minerals, so it is still considered a stone. Blue sandstone is manufactured in Italy.

Each piece is tumbled into a smooth cube. The square shape symbolizes stability, structure and grounding energy, said to enhance manifestation and organization.

The galaxy stone.

Blue sandstone is sometimes called the galaxy stone, the crystal of courage or the stone of wishes. Reminiscent of stars in the night sky, it is thought to deflect negative energy and serve as a protection stone.

Some cultures call it the wishing stone and carry it with them in a pocket or pouch. Blue sandstone has also been linked to the goddess Aphrodite, representing her connection to gold and the sea.

Its origin is still unclear, but crystal experts date blue sandstone back to the 17th century and the Miotti family of glassmakers in Venice, who are said to have invented the technique used to make it.

Through the ages, crystals and stones have been collected and prized for their timeless beauty, their rich history and even their spiritual and metaphysical properties. We believe in the mystical properties of crystals, though nothing we sell comes with any sort of magical guarantee.
